The heavy rain failed to dampen the spirits of a group of willing volunteers who turned up to help out in Astmoor Industrial Estate’s first ever ‘Estate Tidy Up’.Nineteen people turned up to take part in the event, which was organised in association with Keep Britain Tidy, in an effort to improve the image of the estate by tidying up some of the local ‘grot spots.’ The group were provided with a breakfast snack and a drink to sustain them during the tidy up, which ran from 9.30am to 1.00pm. BID Manager Gareth Bennett thanked everyone who helped in the tidy up and also thanked the businesses for allowing staff to take the time away from the workplace. Gareth said “all the volunteers did a great job and we filled over 50 bags of rubbish” “We had a very productive time and although it rained throughout, everyone had a great day and the estate looked very much improved by the time we left” he went on to say. Halton Borough Council’s Streetscene Team collected the 50 bags of rubbish, many of which will be recycled as the volunteers were able to segregate the non-recyclable wastes. Future tidy up days are planned for the estate, so, if you are interested in getting involved, then contact BID Gareth Bennett on 01928 516123.
