Business Improvement Area (BIA) Scheme
As part of the drive to establish environmental and design standards of the highest quality within the Widnes Waterfront, a Business Improvement Area (BIA) Grant Scheme has been developed to provide financial assistance to existing businesses within the Widnes Waterfront programme area and on the main approach roads to the area (Tanhouse Lane and Gorsey Lane).
The purpose of the BIA Grant Scheme is to assist individual businesses to enhance the external appearance of their sites, in order to contribute to the overall regeneration of
the Widnes Waterfront area.
With up to £50,000 grant available per company, forming up to 50% of the eligible project costs, businesses could undertake one or more of the following improvements:
  • Hard and soft landscaping
  • Fencing
  • Security systems (CCTV, access control etc)
  • Demolition of redundant buildings
  • Cladding / re-cladding of existing buildings
  • Any other work that will enhance the external appearance of a businesses premises.
