Astmoor - The Star Once Again

For the 4th time in 2 years in October Astmoor plays a part in filming by Lime Pictures for the hit channel 4 show Hollyoaks. In the past drive by scenes, a spectacular bus crash and a series of high speed chases have all taken place in the Astmoor area. This time the scene is… well we can’t say, but another essential part of the storyline. Holyoaks Cast

This compliments filming in other parts of the Borough for other well known TV shows such as Coronation Street, Drop Dead Gorgeous and the cult comedy series Two Pint of Pager and a Packet of Crisps.

In addition, the big names have also used Halton as the base for their big screen films. Trainspotting and  Shallow Grave BAFTA award winning director Danny Boyle used Halton as a base when he filmed the comedy drama Millions during a 7 week shoot in Widnes and Runcorn

Location Managers now know that if they come to Halton they will be helped as much as possible buy the Promotions and Tourism Team to enable filming to take place. Jayne Tattan from Lime Pictures said “it’s brilliant, like a one stop shop, the team sort things out in days that in other Local Authorities will takes weeks.”

The tradition of film in Halton goes back many years, hit BBC police drama Merseybeat, made their film base and studio in Widnes for 3½ years, and way back in 1987, Truckers a comedy Drama about a Northern Haulage firm used Widnes and Runcorn as a backdrop to many of its scenes.

So now Astmoor plays another starring role and is now firmly part of the film location managers armoury when it comes to producing quality drama to beam into peoples homes.
