Business Continuity Management

Every business and organisation can experience a serious incident that can prevent it from continuing normal operations. This can range from a flood or fire to a serious computer malfunction or information security incident.

The events of recent times are a reminder of the vulnerability of businesses and the need to have Business Continuity plans in place.

Whilst the Council has in place robust plans for responding to major serious incidents, there is a need for businesses and voluntary organisations to have similar plans in place. The council’s Risk and Emergency Planning Division supported by Economic Development Division has issued some advice to local businesses and the voluntary sector.

In addition to each business and voluntary agency receiving a personal letter from the Chief Executive of Halton Borough Council together with a leaflet on Business Continuity Management additional information has been made available on www.b2k.uk.net/bc external link

A series of briefings have also taken place e.g. Breakfast seminars have been held, attendance at local Trader meetings in Runcorn and Widnes, as well as the industrial estate forums.

The council is grateful for the support of the Halton Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise external link and Business Link for Greater Merseyside external link in assisting the promotion this initiative.
